Trawl designer Victor Strange has many years of experence
in making and maintaining pelagic trawls, both at sea and
ashore. All of our trawls are made by a skilled team at
our net loft in Iceland.Tor-Net supplies its own pelagic
trawls and all of the necessary additional equipment,
including codends, sweeplines, and headline kites, for
trawls of all sizes. Our back list of orders shows that
we have supplied trawls for fishing herring, blue
whiting, redfish, Alaska pollock, capelin, mackerel and
horse mackerel, from the North Atlantic to the South
Pacific. Every set of gear we supply is individually
tailored to suit the size, equipment and towing power of
the catching vessel, as well as the waters where the gear
is to be used and the characteristics of the target
species. We use only first-class raw materials, sourced
for strength and durability, and to make our trawls easy
to haul and shoot. Our hexagonal mesh trawls are light to
tow compared to conventional trawls due to the small
twine surface area in comparison to the overall size of
the gear. Tor-Net’s design team has a rolling
programme of development aimed at improving our trawls to
make them even more efficient.
